Course Description
In this intensive workshop with acclaimed figurative artist Henry Yan, students will focus on developing expressive charcoal drawings from live models, from both short- and long-pose charcoal drawings from live models.
Henry will be teaching the techniques he describes in his book Henry Yan’s Figure Drawing: Techniques and Tips, such as effective quick-sketching, artistic anatomy, and a painterly approach to drawing. His lesson programme will be divided between regular live demonstrations from the model, and providing individual guidance and feedback to students as they work on their own drawings.
On drawing, Henry says:
"My philosophy is that drawing should be a personal endeavour that allows an artist to demonstrate a variety of feelings and styles. My goal is to show students ways of observing, understanding and seeking the real essence of beauty. From this, one finds the best personal interpretation, which is the foundation to good art."Tuition
