The Dutch Atelier of Realist Art (DARA) is a partnership owned by Thomas Langeveld and Mischa Tranquilli, registered with the Kamer van Koophandel under KvK-nummer 70593218.
Our privacy policy informs you about our collection and use of your personal data. What Personal Data is Collected by DARA?
DARA collects the following personal data:
- The name, email address, home address, phone number, birthday/age, nationality, and prior artistic education of all course applicants;
- The name, email address, home address, and phone number for the legal guardians of course applicants younger than 18 years of age;
- The name, phone number, and relation to the course applicant of the person we should contact in case of an emergency;
- A copy of a valid photo ID (such as a passport, driver’s license, national ID, or student ID) from applicants who would like to receive our Student Discount;
- Any personal health or medical information pertinent to the applicant’s ability to study at DARA (such as allergies, an inability to stand for long periods, etc.);
- The email address of individuals who subscribe to our online newsletter;
- Images of students and/or student artwork recorded during ongoing classes and workshops;
- Feedback about our studio provided in the form of student surveys, online reviews, or other written correspondence;
- Complaints settled internally by DARA or by a third-party Complaint Handler, which includes the complainant’s name, email address, and phone number;
- Information about the use of our website, including the visitor’s IP address, which pages have been viewed, search terms, and referring websites. (Please see “What Are Cookies?”)
How is my Personal Data Collected?
DARA only collects data that has been directly provided to us by you. Your personal data is collected through the following means:
- You register online for any of our courses;
- You qualify for our Student Discount, and voluntarily provide a copy of a valid photo ID so that the discount can be honored;
- You subscribe to our online newsletter and agree to receive marketing/promotional materials;
- You give us your clear and express consent to record images of you and/or your artwork;
- You voluntarily provide feedback about our studio by completing a student survey, submitting an online review, or giving us your feedback through any other written correspondence;
- You submit a complaint to be settled by internal review or by a third-party Complaint Handler;
- You accept the use of browser cookies while visiting our website.
How is my Personal Data Used?
The data we collect is processed upon the following lawful bases:

Data collected upon the basis of Public Task comprises any information that is necessary for the official function of our studio. The processing of this data is carried out for the following administrative purposes:

Data that is processed upon the basis of Legal Obligation comprises any personal information that we are required to disclose to law enforcement authorities in order to comply with a legal or statutory obligation.
>> Vital Interests
Data that is processed upon the basis of Vital Interests comprises any personal information that is necessary for you to receive vital emergency medical care. We are only able to process this information when your medical state renders you incapable from giving your consent.
>> Public Task
Data collected upon the basis of Public Task comprises any information that is necessary for the official function of our studio. The processing of this data is carried out for the following administrative purposes:
- To maintain an accurate record of individuals who have applied for courses at DARA;
- To maintain up-to-date contact information for course applicants so that we may notify them with any important information about the course programme(s) in which they have enrolled;
- To maintain up-to-date contact information for the person course applicants would like us to contact in the unlikely event of an emergency at our studio;
- To verify the applicant’s date of birth, so that applicants below 18 years of age are not enrolled without the full and express consent from their legal guardian;
- To verify whether we will be able to accommodate a course applicant’s medical/health concerns while he or she studies with us, and to ensure that any necessary provisions are made for the applicant prior to the start of the course;
- To maintain a record of any positive or negative feedback we have received in order to improve the functioning of our studio.

- Images of you and/or your artwork, which you have authorized us to use in our marketing/promotional materials for the purposes of promoting our studio to prospective applicants and the general public;
- Your email address, which you have authorized us to use to send you marketing/promotional materials via our online newsletter;
- You consent to the use of cookies while visiting our website, which store personal information that includes your IP address, browsing habits, search terms, and referring websites, to be processed for the purposes of analyzing trends in the way visitors experience our website in order to optimize our content. - When you register for a workshop offered by a visiting instructor, the information provided in your registration form may be shared with this instructor so that he or she can make an informed decision about which applicants to accept into the class.
- When you attend a workshop led by a visiting instructor, any images taken during the course may be shared with the instructor if he or she requests them. If you have consented to the use of your images for marketing and promotional purposes, the visiting instructor may share the images on his or her personal website and/or social media.
>> Third-Party Organizations
- When you authorize us to share any images of you and/or your artwork for marketing and promotional purposes, this information may be posted on Facebook and Instagram.
- When you use a third-party feature, app, or service on our website, this may enable the use of third-party cookies. (Please see “What Types of Cookies Are Used?”)
- When you exercise your right to data portability, your data may be transferred directly to a requested third-party organization. (Please see “What Are my Data Protection Rights?”)

- A request has been made to erase, restrict, or object to the processing of data. DARA is required to disclose the data in question upon the basis of Legal Obligation or Vital Interests;
- A request has been made to transfer personal data to the data subject or other organization. The data in question also includes information about a third-party, whose rights and freedoms could be adversely affected by the transmission of the data;
