Henry Yan

Henry Yan is a master draughtsman whose work is characterised by attention to anatomical detail and powerful gesture. His two passions are painting and teaching.

After completing his fine arts training in China, Henry has worked as a professor of figure drawing and painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, USA for more than twenty years.

His book, Henry Yan’s Figure Drawing – Techniques and Tips, published in 2006, has been widely used by art students and professional artists in the U.S. and internationally. 

Other than teaching for the Academy of Art University, Henry has also been invited to run seminars and workshops in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. A large amount of his work has been collected internationally.
