ABOUT THIS COURSE
Course Description
In this workshop, classical surrealist painter Teresa Oaxava will be teaching and demonstrating how to paint the female figure in oils. Her approach utilizes classical methods of the Baroque and nineteenth century, blended with a modern understanding of color, brushwork and aesthetics.
What can I expect?
A live female model will hold a single, sustained pose over 5 days (with breaks!) The model will pose nude, though with a little bit of blue drapery to create interesting color harmonies and flow-through lines in the composition.
Teresa will demonstrate her painting methods for the group, and guide you one-on-one through your own layering and texture process when constructing your figure painting.
In this course, emphasis will be placed on constructing a proportionate figure using anatomy, value, color, and brushwork to create various edge and blending effects.
