COVID-19 UPDATE: Due to measures enacted by the Dutch government ordering the closure of all schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DARA studio is currently closed to all students and visitors until 6 April. We will re-open the studio on 6 April and plan to hold upcoming events at that time, provided that it is considered safe to do so.

This decision is subject to change if/when any new governmental measures go into effect that would prolong the closure of schools, or would restrict small gatherings of people. We will keep everyone updated immediately in the event that circumstances change.

In these examples, we will examine how the use of oils developed its own dominance in Western Europe, and how Rembrandt utilized the unique expressive qualities of this medium.
