ABOUT THIS COURSE
Course Description
This workshop largely takes place outdoors. Participants will need to be able to walk short distances to each painting location while carrying their equipment & gear.
Imaginative realist painter Edoardo Durdin invites you to join this special 5-day plein air workshop to learn from the master of color: Mother Nature.
Painting landscapes en plein air means painting directly outdoors, which teaches us principles like composition, tonality, edge, and color in a setting which is a little less controlled than our usual studio space!
The first day of the workshop begins in the studio, followed by outdoor excursions to four different locations in and around Haarlem, selected to provide students with different challenges to paint - from water, to foliage, to architecture, and more.
Edoardo's instruction will largely focus on finding a compelling composition within nature, and understanding the behavior of light and its impact on each object within the environment. All students will begin with a limited amount of colors, though painters with more experience may opt to work with a fully expanded color palette as the workshop progresses.
Throughout the workshop, Edoardo will work with students one-on-one in executing successful landscape compositions, enabling you capture the charm and curiosities within the modern Dutch landscape.Course Materials
