After a combined twenty-year career in animation, comic books and as a children’s book illustrator, Edo Fuijkschot (1972) stumbled upon the growing movement of Classical Realism and became enamoured by the techniques and principles it had to offer. The simplified and broken-down academic methods of shape design and value added a lot of new weight to his art.

To delve deeper into learning this newfound skill, Edo began to take the odd workshop at various ateliers throughout Europe, to eventually settle into an ongoing online academic program at Samsara Academy of Art (India) which he completed in the middle of 2024. He currently continues to study portrait painting at DARA.

Edo’s work has been shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 (incl. exhibition), the International ARC Salon (semi-finalist 2022 & 2019) and the Derwent Art Prize 2018 (incl. exhibition)
