Course Description
In this workshop, you will work from a live model and simultaneously investigate design principles found in the works of the great masters from past to present. Over a three-day period, you will analyse master works and learn how the masters applied the use of the golden ratio (the divine proportion) and dynamic symmetry, amongst other design techniques, to bring their drawings, paintings, and sculpture to life.
After an introductory lecture from Zachary, you will draw from a live nude model and apply the design systems discussed. (You may also focus solely on studying the portrait, if you prefer.)
Throughout the workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn through live demonstrations, analysis of master works, and personalised critiques. This workshop is designed as a course in technical development and to assist you in reaching your artistic pursuits. At the end of the course, you will be equipped with the ability to look at creative expression through a different lens.
