Welcome to the Haarlem Salon, a national juried exhibition that seeks to recognise excellence in contemporary figurative drawing and painting in the Netherlands. This exhibition is open to all artists across the Netherlands working in traditional media, as part of DARA’s ongoing initiative to carve out a space for contemporary realism.
In line with DARA’s core philosophy and mission, this exhibition aims to present work which demonstrates both a high level of technical ability as well as your individual creative voice. All manner of representational drawings and paintings made exclusively with traditional media are accepted.

Key Info:
- This exhibition is only open to representational drawings and paintings made in traditional media. All abstract art, installation, photography, and/or digital art is not eligible.
- You may submit up to 5 works for consideration. There is a submission fee of EUR 40 (discount for recent DARA students – EUR 25)
- All work must be available to exhibit in person in Haarlem from 7 to 10 August.
- Your work must have been made within the last two years.
- The deadline to submit work is 31 May 2026. (This deadline will not be extended.)
- You must be able to drop off and collect unsold work from the exhibition venue in Haarlem. We are not able to receive shipped work.
- Entries will be accepted from 30 March to 31 May. Entries are submitted by completing an online entry form and paying the entrance fee.
